A Culture of Safety At Syblon Reid, safety is our top priority. The health and welfare of our employees, subcontractors, and the public is our first cosideration and continuous improvement in jobsite safety practices and quality are our goals. As a general contractor performing difficult projects our employees encounter a wide range of safety hazards every day. From excavation and confined space to fall protection and erection hazards, employees are provided the specialized training and safety programs necessary to plan and execute sound safety practices and achieve high quality standards on our difficult projects. This culture of safety begins with Senior Management and continues with employees at every level making safety a priority and meeting our goal of sending all employees home safely at the end of the day. There is no substitute for safety at Syblon Reid. With experience performing high-hazard projects for a wide range of public and private clients, SRC has the ability to meet our client's specific safety requirements on any project. Training & Education Formal safety training is conducted in the following core disciplines to give supervisors and craft employees the knowledge and skills required to manage and work safely on our difficult projects:
Site Safety Planning, communications, recognition are key components of our safety program. Project-specific hazard analysis is completed by management and project employees before the project begins. During the project, hazards and safe work practices are identified and communicated to all employees and subcontrators in customized tailgate meetings. Weekly jobsite inspections are conducted by management and craft employees. Additional audits are conducted by a third party with all inspections, audits, and injuries reviewd by Senior Management. Safety incentives are available to management and craft employees on all projeccts for meeting safety goals. Awards Syblon Reid was recognized for its 2008 safety record at the 2009 AGC Safety Awards of Excellence Banquet. The Associated General Contractors of California (AGC-CA) handed out safety awards to contractors in recognition of their commitment to developing and implementing successful safety programs at the 2009 AGC of California Safety Awards of Excellence Luncheon held in Monterey, CA. For the second consecutive year, Syblon Reid received a first-place Safety Award of Excellence. In recognition of exemplary construction safety Syblon Reid received first place in the Heavy/Civil/Highway Division, Under 200,000 hours category. In 2007, Syblon Reid received the first place award for "Safety Excellence on an Individual High Hazard Job" for the Emergency Repairs at Akin Powerhouse project. Syblon Reid also received first place for safety excellence in the "Heavy/Civil/Highway 200,001 - 500,000 Worker Hours" category.
